A Touch Of Magic
As you approach the finishing point of your stitches, getting to know their combined energy more intimately, consider what sorts of magic gems can be interwoven with this bouquet?
(whether or not you’re at that point, this will be helpful to consider)
So far in the #enchantedbloomsstitchalong hashtag, we’ve seen caterpillars, snakes, butterflies, and even ethereal threads spiraling into the stitches.
I personally have to try my best to not stitch my Tiger cat into every botanical embroidery I do (I can’t help it, it’s the element I see him in most regularly) but maybe a different animal familiar is calling you.
Below, the aforementioned plant loving Tiger.
Or, for example, the ethereal spiraling threads - is there a cosmic energy you’d like to infuse into your flora?
The star stitch is one of my personal favorites, and when created in a thinner thread than the rest of the design, the stitches seem to be in a different realm.
For example, using one single strand of embroidery floss when the rest of the design are done in three or more strands of floss, or three strands of floss when the rest of the design is six strands (like the stars in the embroidery below)
In my personal experience, going more bold with an earthly element like a creature, and less bold in an element of cosmic influence creates a better balance / dynamic (though I don’t work with design absolutes - this is more like a most-of-the-time-but-not-always)
Another idea to keep in mind is the idea of creating a fence around your garden, or a vessel to capture your blooms (like the vase on the embroidery below)
Some flowers are wild and rambly and you may want to create a container for them to come together within.
Some flowers are tender and delicate and you may want to create a fence for them to be kept safe from harm.
There also exists parts of ourselves, parts that are in a blooming process, that could use the same support.
I thank you for joining me through this experience, and hope you found these lessons supportive to your practice.
If so, be sure to check out my other workshops!
